Present Perfect

- Use the Present Perfect to say that an action happened at an unspecified time before now.
- Expressions: ever, never, already, yet, just, recently...

Form:

  • Affirmative: Subject + Have / Has + Past Participle
  • Negative: Subject + Have / Has (neg.) + Past Participle
  • Interrogative: Have / Has + Subject + Past Participle

Future ("will" and "be going to")

Future has two different forms in English: "will" and "be going to."

  1. Will:

- Will future expresses a spontaneous decision, an assumption with regard to the future or an action in the future that can't be influenced.


  • Affirmative: Subject + will + verb in Present
  • Negative: Subject + Will not or Won't + verb in Present
  • Interrogative: Will + Subject + verb in Present


2. Be Going To

Be going to expresses a conclusion regarding the immediate future or an action in the near future that has already been planned or prepared.

  • Affirmative: Subject + To be + Going to + Verb in Present
  • Negative: Subject + To be (neg.) + Going to + Ver in Present
  • Interrogative: To be + Subject + going to + Verb in Present


Past Continuous

Use the Past Continuous to indicate that a longer action in the past was interrupted.


Form:

  • Affirmative: Subject + To be in Past + Verb in Present more -ing
  • Negative: Subject + To be in Past (neg.) + Verb in Present more -ing
  • Interrogative: To be in Past + Subject + Verb in Present more -ing

Use the Past Simple to express the idea that an action started and finished at a specific time in the past.


Form:
  • Affirmative: Subject + Verb in Pass
  • Negative: Subject + Didn't + Verb in Present
  • Interrogative: Did + To be + Verb in Present

  • Regular Verbs:

- Call: called
-Work: worked
- Play: palyed
- answer: ansered
- dream: deamed
- explain: explained
- describe: described
- hope: hoped
- walk: walked
- ...

  • Irregular verbs:

- Be: was
- Break: broke
- Buy: bought
- Choose: chose
- Cost: cost
- Do: did

- ...

Present Continuous

Use the Present Continuous to express the idea that something is happening now, at this very moment.

Form:
  • Affirmative: Subject + To be + Verb in Present more -ing
  • Negative: Subject + To be (neg.) + Verb in Present more -ing
  • Interrogative: To be + Subject + Verb in Present more -ing



Present Simple

Use the Present Simple to express the idea that an action is repeated or usual.

Form:
  • Affirmative: Subject + Verb in Present
  • Negative: Subject + Don't or Doesn't (neg.) + Verb in Present
  • Interrogative: Do or Does + Subject + Verb in Present
